I am seeing a whole lot of misinformation about stimulus checks, so I want to give y'all some resources you can use when you see this in your timelines.
Stimulus payments will come to you automatically if you've filed your taxes in the last 2 years (2019, 2018), are currently on SSA or SSDI or have Railroad Retirement. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know
Many news outlets are reporting that it could take up to 20 weeks for some income earners to get their stimulus checks.
IMO, NPR has the best explainer on this. However, you don't have to wait for those checks to be cut. If you don't have your direct deposit on file with the IRS or need to change it, you can do that with their portal, here: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here
You can update your direct deposit with the IRS very soon. They say mid-April and I expect it will be up next week sometime. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments

Your stimulus payment will NOT count against your 2020 tax refund or payments. It's not an advance on your refund; you don't have to pay it back: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/covid-stimulus-check/
As of right now, the biggest gap that I see is that SSI recipients (disabled people who do not qualify for SSDI) are not automatically receiving a payment: https://www.disabilityscoop.com/2020/04/10/stimulus-checks-automatic-unless-ssi/28134/
