I really love this year's Hugo nominees! But I also want to highlight some SFF novels by authors of color published in 2019 that I personally really loved, so have a thread.

I'm including both adult and young adult.
THE ROSEWATER INSURRECTION by Tade Thompson
- adult science fiction
- sequel to ROSEWATER
- the best alien invasion series I've ever read
- alien invasion through biology -- they change you from the inside out
- last book in the series already out https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40696972-the-rosewater-insurrection
JADE WAR by Fonda Lee
- adult second-world fantasy
- sequel to JADE CITY
- fantasy with modern tech is so cool???
- it's like... mafia + martial arts + magic
- I think this is one of the best fantasy series of the last ten years https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41716919-jade-war
THE DRAGON REPUBLIC by R.F. Kuang
- adult grimdark fantasy
- sequel to THE POPPY WAR
- also one of the best fantasy series of the last ten years
- not grimdark as in "edgy for the sake of edgy" grimdark as "dealing with historical trauma" https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41118857-the-dragon-republic
