Yesterday a friend from Ontario said "B.C. seems to be doing a pretty good job containing the virus, and looks like it's been pretty chill about everything"
And I thought "let me tell you about how people are reacting to people on ferries right now"

Lots of reasons why the ferry situation is a perfect storm:
1) It is an obvious health concern. No two ways about it.
2) It's visual, anecdotal, mysterious (some folks are on the ferry for valid reasons)
3) BC Ferries is helpless to do anything https://twitter.com/BCFerries/status/1248648430488035335

4) The province has been warning that smaller communities don’t have the health resources to deal with a major outbreak
5) In many of those places connected via BC Ferries, there’s an ingrained dynamic against the outsider coming in and ruining the tranquil way of life

6) BC Ferries reduced sailings this week by about half, so the numbers would *seem* larger than last week anyways.
Add it all up, and it's a province-wide tinderbox of anxiety, as opposed to the limits that come with photos of people on Vancouver beaches or sports fields.
