Just had another sobbing breakdown about the end of another @BernieSanders run for president. I was with Bernie in 2016 and Bernie again in 2020. I was also so much more affected than expected when @ewarren's campaign ended. Now I think I know why.
I look at these moments as cultural markers of where we are as a country, what we value and how we think we need to get there.
When #Kavanaugh was able to join the #SupremeCourt, I was devastated. For me it was a realization that our country is not yet ready to truly believe women because we would have to face the ongoing #misogyny and ongoing existence of the good old boy's club.
So many of us, for what we have done, what we have not done, when we have spoken up, when we have laughed awkwardly & moved on, are a part of that and we're not yet ready to say it is REAL and it is WRONG. We don't want to look at our own complicity & complacency.
I look at all of the inequity we are seeing during this pandemic. Inequity many of us can't not see, every day. #Inequity that some are just waking up to realize. I wanted a #president ( @BernieSanders !) who was a broken record about this #truth.
B/c so many of us, we are broken records about it & the end of it would mean we matter, that the world we want is possible, that we have truly been able to put our history far behind us, that we are connected & we are ready to be a beloved community. I want that so badly it hurts
VOTE. In 2016 many of us who were saddened we couldnt #vote for #Bernie didn't go to the polls. I went to the polls and I voted for #Hillary, but I went too quietly. I went to vote because people died so I can vote. I voted to honor their legacy. I didn't vote for myself.
I didn't vote because I thought it was the single most important thing I could do. I honestly had the thought that voting in NY, a blue state, my vote didn't matter. And look what happened. #VOTE.
Look at what is happening all around us. Look at how it is being handled. I want history to be made this election day. I want the numbers of people who voted to be more than ever before, more than when #Obama was running in 2008. (we miss you @BarackObama)
So many of us were excited & ready to wait in line for as many hours as it took to get our votes in. We sang in lines, smiled wide at everyone. I realize now, that even if the candidate doesn't make me feel that way, the importance of being a part of the democratic process can.
Please #vote, register to vote, check in with your friends and family and see if they are registered.
If we are going to live in the world we #hope we can see in our lifetime. Our votes matter.
If we believe we can stay connected to that #audacityofhope that we believed in 2008, we have to #vote. Let's do this #Biden. I'm in.

This time I won't go to the polls quietly.
If I'm #Bernie2020 for real. I honor that by going to the polls. Voting. + keeping the fight up!
Thank you @BernieSanders for believing in us. We're still with you.
