#OnThisDay 4 years ago we were almost a year into touring our third album Wilder Mind. Having already played a bunch of our favourite ever shows in New Orleans we were keen to come up with something unique and unchartered for our NOLA play on the tour.
So we turned to a pair of our long term collaborators, Mike Luba and Don Sullivan, for help. Mike and Don have helped make all sorts of ambitious shows happen over the years and before we knew it they came back to us and said they had become friends with the folks who look after
the zephyr field baseball park in Metairie, a suburb of the magical city of New Orleans. There had never been a ticketed concert there before - which for us sounded perfect!
Months of conversations and planning later and it was April 9th, 4 years ago yesterday, we rolled up with our crew. We had the insanely talented Blake Mills with us for those shows and our long time friend Ben Jaffe from the incredible Preservation Hall
came along for the one night and we played House of the Rising Sun altogether. The show was everything we wanted it to be and come 2am we set off for Alabama - our unique relationship with one the most magical and soulful cities in the World felt in tact.
