A lot of you are interviewing for jobs right now, or will be soon. Regardless of the role, all interviewers will ask, “Do you have any questions for me?” BE READY, especially now (mid-COVID-19) when all interviews are remote.

PHRASING IS EVERYTHING. Avoid yes/no’s or anything that’ll elicit a canned response. Skip questions that start w/ “why,” they tend to sound accusatory/confrontational. Be specific while encouraging elaboration. It's what and *how* people answer, pay attention to both!

The goal is to get unrehearsed answers and therefore real intel about life at this company. How confidently do they answer? What info do they volunteer about leadership/morale/their own concerns? Pro tip: ask different interviewers the same question to find patterns.

(if you're the 1st remote hire on a prev co-located team, let's hope they're thinking about how to make you feel connected on a team where people already know each other, not just logistics)
