Andrew Luck wasn't unlucky as much as he was destroyed.

Luck started 51 straight games before his GM's decisions caught up.

His GM "protected" Luck by drafting just 3 OL before rd 7 & using undrafted OL.

No QB was hit & pressured more than Luck.

Luck never missed a start until 2015.

By 2014 & 2015 Grigson's offense was the #2 cheapest in the NFL based on cap hit.

Cheapest position group? O-Line

Grigson progressively gave Luck weaker & weaker protection.

In 2015 & 2016, Luck was pressured 19x per game, #1 most in NFL.
Multiple people factor into QB pressures:

•QB: for how he plays, moves & gets rid of the ball
•GM: for talent on OL
•OL: for performance
•Play-caller: for play calls, progressions designed, audible ability entrusted to QB

The worst thing to give a QB like Luck was a bad OL.
Look at Luck's pressure % sack rate in Grigson's last two years compared to 2018:

2015: 40.2% pressured, 14% sack
2016: 44.3% pressured, 9% sack
2017: injured
2018: 29.5% pressured, 3% sack

What changed? New GM Ballard actually gave Luck an OL & Frank Reich called smart plays.
I'll always remember what Luck said:

"Injury took my joy of this game away"

But what did he think about playing for Frank Reich w/ a good OL?

"Am I allowed to have this much fun on a football field?"

Zero doubt Grigson neglecting the OL contributed to Luck's early retirement.
