Fact: US State department, as a matter of policy, chooses to deny the fact of Taiwan’s legitimacy as a nation. Fact: many US officials believe that formal recognition of Taiwan would lead to a Chinese (PRC) attack and war. Fact: US policy based on fear, not strategic vision.

Opinion: it is not in the American interest to base policy on a lie. The US State department should carefully move toward normalizing diplomatic relations with Taiwan . Fact: @Stokes2049 has written extensively on how this could be achieved.
