Anyone looking for #animerecommendations should check out one of the #Precure seasons. They're really underrated despite having so much to offer.

Good animation, solid character designs/arcs, & cool fight scenes

A thread of basic info (2-15) & where to watch it (16-18)
1/20
Precure is a magical girl franchise that changes it's characters and teams with each new season. There are 17 seasons, each (excluding 2) have different settings, hero names, different concept/motifs, and different powerups.
2/20
Precures are legendary warriors who can be found accross the multiverse. Girls, *boys*, aliens, witches, demigods, fairies, and androids can all become precure respectively.

3/20
Each season/series follows the basic framework wherein a normal girl has a chance encounter with magical beings and ends up assembling a team of magical girls to protect earth. The teams get new powerups and forms to fight enemies as they become stronger and stronger.

4/20
Although all seasons follow this format, the writers shake things up by placing the characters in unique settings

Witch themed precure attend a magic school, space themed precure go to other planets, fairytale themed precure go into storybooks, etc. Each season is exciting!
5/20
The members of each team have a different name for their precure alteregos but all follow the same naming convention which correlate to the motif of their season/series. For example; Fresh Precure is fruit themed and Cure Peach, Cure Berry, and Cure Pine make up the team.
6/20
In Precure there are magical beings referred to as "fairies". They look like plushies but can talk and most of them can even transform into humans. Each season focuses on a different subgroup of fairies so their abilities, races, and backstories will vary.

7/20
Sometimes fairies will be able to boost their Precure's power, or play a key role in helping their Precure transform in the first place, other times they simply offer companionship/support.

8/20
Each season has 1 to 2 central themes, here are a few of them :

Heartcatch Precure - Flowers/fashion themed

Futari wa Precure - Yin and Yang themed

DokiDoki Precure - love/card suits themed

KiraKira Precure - desserts/sweets themed

Suite Precure - music themed

9/20
Although every season technically shares interconnected lore and exist in the same universe as another, there are rarely any references to other seasons within each season. This makes is very easy to watch any season you want without having to start with the first one.

10/20
There are crossover films with one type called All Stars and a different type with titles that vary.

Currently there are 8 All Stars movies

All Stars films feature every Precure team at the time the film was made whereas the other crossover films only feature select teams
11/20
Each of the 17 seasons got a film exclusively featuring characters from said season.

The only season to not get a film exclusively about its team is Hugtto! Precure with its film called 'Hugtto! PreCure Futari wa Pretty Cure : All Stars Memories'. It featured every team

Interested in watching a season but not sure which to start with? Here's my personal favorite jumping off points ( in order from best to start with to least )

Heartcatch Precure, Hugtto! Precure, Futari Wa Precure, and KiraKira Precure A la mode.

13/20
Precure *isn't* consistently dubbed in english. Only 4 seasons are dubbed, and the dubs themselves are very much localized for an American/Canadian audience. Names change, and content is edited out/altered. I wouldn't recommend watching them as an introduction to the series
14/20
There are season with dubs in other languages as well, but I cannot attest to their adherence to the source material or script. There are dubs in German, Italian, Albanian and likely more that I am unaware of.

15/20
Here's how you can *legally* stream the show :

Crunchyroll has the entirety of Futari Wa Pretty Cure subtitled : https://www.crunchyroll.com/pretty-cure

Netflix has the dub of Smile Precure and DokiDoki Precure

16/20
Here's how to stream by other means if desired :

WatchCartoonsOnline has every season subtitled excluding Smile Precure (they have the dub for it tho) : https://m.wcostream.com/subbed-anime-list

Comie creates subs for the show : https://mobile.twitter.com/curecomsubs?lang=en

GoGoAnime has some seasons too

This thread is quite long, but I'm not very good at being concise 😅

This series is dear to my heart & brings a smile to my face when I watch it, so I thought maybe sharing it w/ ppl during this stressful time may give them a smile too. Hope you find something you like 🖤
