I've argued before that as fiction, Robinson's Piece of Cake is an excellent insight or intro to the reality of the RAF's early war combat, and Robinson's research grounds most of the events from real actions, such as 'Battle of Barking Creek'. 1/2 https://twitter.com/aniemyer/status/1248594832513208320
2/2 Len Deighton is another writer taking an exceptionally factual approach to WWII's air war in novels. I'd rate both more useful than screeds of nationally archived documents that are actually only bureaucratic self-justification & smoke screen despite their historical status.
