I asked the Chief Medical Officer three times how many people are still waiting for tests.

No answer.

UPDATE: Dr Tony Holohan asked again by @ZaraKing about the backlog this evening, says he does not have a precise number.

"I don't have a precise number... I am not trying to be evasive... we've had a challenge in terms of the speed of testing."

TH: What we now have to do is try to build capacity as quickly as we can to grow that capacity with new labs, including some outside the country.

Asked by @ShaneBeattyNews about backlog, Dr Holohan says:

We don't believe there are people waiting to be tested at this moment in time.

There have been some ppl who have had to wait for test results.

TH: Contract with German lab put in place to clear backlog. which will be complete in next number of days

Dr Colm Henry from HSE says he doesn't know how many people are awaiting test results.
