Here's the American narrative.

1. Wuhan enforced an oppressive lockdown because they are an Authoritarian nation
2. It worked but the numbers are still questionable
3. Now that the lockdown is over, they are using a high-tech digital surveillance program to track citizens
Here's the real narrative:
1. Wuhan enforced a effective lockdown with full cooperation from citizens because it was a good idea
2. They reported the numbers they have and we have no substantive reason to doubt them
3. There is a wechat mini app for tracking health history
If you buy into American reporting about China you are being given a "glass half empty" perspective. No matter what they do, US reporters will find ways to make them look bad.
This is equally pernicious as blatant misinformation, because it prevents us from learning from them. We will do exactly the opposite of what they did because they are "evil and authoritarian" even if what they did worked.
Unfortunately America is drowning a sea of bias and skewed information. It's hard to get out of it because it's literally everywhere.
But if there were a way to get information from people on the ground, the subjects of the news, rather than people thousands of miles away, would it be more accurate?

The answer is yes, and luckily there is. @Quora.
Go to http://Quora.com  and read up on subjects related to China. You will find that it is much different than what we hear in our media.
And no wonder, because people are writing from their own experiences. They are not being paid to push an agenda. They have no incentive other than to inform.

The truth naturally comes to the surface when the motivating factor is personal, not monetary.
I'd like to create a push for informing oneself beyond what you are fed in the mainstream media. Please like and retweet this thread to give people a potentially new perspective that they might not have known existence. Truth comes out with transparency.
