Saw something today that annoyed me but instead of ranting about it I’ll take a moment to educate...
Viruses live on surfaces. These surfaces include the outside of your mask therefore you need to treat the outside of your mask as if it is infected.
Do not remove it by grabbing anything other than your straps, definitely do not roll it up in your pockets, and don’t let that outside part touch anything you wouldn’t want to get infected.
Spray a disinfectant on your mask (if you’re reusing) after each use. Preferably also keep each mask in its separate bag that you are also cleaning after each use.
I’ve come to find that people really don’t understand how microorganisms work and that’s ok. That’s why I went to college for this. I probably have ridiculous ideas about how tv production or construction working works. Not here to shame, here to educate.
I’m so happy to go out and see everyone using masks here in LA. However, all that work will mean nothing if we don’t do it right. This is when it matters most, so let’s do it right.
