If you'll allow me some self indulgence, I wanna do a thread where I talk about my favorite episodes of the @transmediacrity podcast for one reason or another. Some of the ones I still think about.
Like I already mentioned, in addition to video game shit in this episode, we talk about a super thought provoking soviet science fiction film. I love it when we do new, weird stuff for us and overthink it: https://transmediacrity.podbean.com/e/transmediacrity-episode-58-a-china-will-be-there-someday/
In this episode I had such a blast talking about my experience in Hearts of Iron IV and especially not talking about Kaiserreich like everyone who plays this does, but instead talking about, the dread tyrant BERNARDDDD https://transmediacrity.podbean.com/e/transmediacrity-episode-44-the-tyranny-of-king-bernie/
Anime club is the most time consuming podcast we ever did, which is why it's on Hiatus. We have to watch episodes (i watch them THREE TIMES) and I take insane notes about them. The Black Rock Shooter episodes, imo, are some of the best https://transmediacrity.podbean.com/e/transmediacrity-anime-club-ep-24-why-did-she-make-me-eat-those-macarons/
Black Rock Shooter was an anime kinda nobody liked but us. We fucking loved it, even with all the ableism, the weird stranger danger shit, the absolutely god awful moral of the story. It was such a fucking blast and I love that we got to podcast it.
I feel like we're weird in a podcast sense because we have all these different brands of podcasts we do every so often, and I'm really glad that the fans have been receptive about Game Jam because it's so much fun. The second Game Jam was imo a classic: https://transmediacrity.podbean.com/e/transmediacrity-game-jam-ep-2-racing-tails-a-24-hours-of-le-mans-story/
I still want "Racing Tails: A 24 Hours Of Le Mans Story" to become a real game. I want all the marquee game jam games to become real games but this one most of all. I feel like we really hit our stride in creative exercises starting with this one.
Sometimes an episode goes normal, but then we unlock some insane idea within the halfway mark and go absolutely apeshit for the rest of the episode, and the discovery of "the secret history" where we link Fate and Kingdom Hearts was a funny little bit: https://transmediacrity.podbean.com/e/transmediacrity-episode-40-kingdom-hearts-cosmos-in-the-lostbelt/
Two years ago, we did a very special episode where I excoriate journalism and Esther tries to hold back my populist rage. It was a VERY special episode, and I haven't heard it since to see if I still agree with myself. I probably do. https://transmediacrity.podbean.com/e/transmediacrity-episode-32-the-commentariat-for-dummies/
And if I had to pick a single one more of these to add to this thread it would be one of the early ones: Betterman anime club. The audio quality is bad. It's too long. But this is where the magic started: where the LORE started https://transmediacrity.podbean.com/e/transmediacrity-anime-club-ep-1-slimed-again/
