Since we're all staying at home for obvious reasons... here is my thread about some movies I've watched that are very close to BTS art or that have been mentioned by them.
Let's go to the movies... virtually!😉

@BTS_twt #StayAtHome
I'll put the trailers of the movies I mention.
I'm sorry if the links I put do not work in your country. I hope you'll be able to find them.

@BTS_twt
Snowpiercer (2013) by Bong Joon-ho is based on French graphic novel Le Transperceneige and was mentioned in our queen Springday.
Post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie, a train that carries the last people, ranked from richest at the front of the train to poorest at the back.

@BTS_twt
Here goes the trailer...
You'll recognize the Bangtan theme on social stratification issues easily.😉

@BTS_twt
Time travel movies?
We've got loads of recommendations!😅

Midnight in Paris(2011) by Woody Allen seems to be a favorite of both Namjoon and Tae. While Tae took pictures on the movie spots, Namjoon mentioned it in his ment during the 2018 Paris concert.

@BTS_twt
Gil, a screenwriter, follows his fiancée to Paris and as he walks in the streets at night starts time-travelling at midnight to 1920s Paris and meets several icons of this era...
There is an interesting epiphany there... no spoilers!😉

@BTS_twt
Another time travel movie that was recommended by JK last year is My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday (2016) by Takahiro Miki.
It is based on a novel and it is a MUST WATCH for me,. Why? It has striking similarities with the Highlight reels and BU visuals.

@BTS_twt
So yes, it is a boy meets girl time travel movie, but if you've followed BU until now, then the similarities will just stand out on their own!
The movie is also called "Tomorrow I Will Date Yesterday's You"

@BTS_twt
About Time (2013) is the movie that inspired Tae's Winter Bear and is a time travel movie.
Tim time travels, like all the men in his family. He tries changing some of the things in his past that will help him have a better life... at least this is what he thinks.

@BTS_twt
Here is the trailer of this movie.
One striking detail here: only men time travel in his family... Do you see me winking at Jin's dad in BU?😉

@BTS_twt
Kimi No Nawa or Your Name (2016) is a beautiful movie JK mentioned. Boy and girl switching bodies during the night but when they come back they have forgotten everything.
This is another movie that screams BU details... just watch it you will see what I mean.

@BTS_twt
So they swap bodies, but they are not in the same timeline either...
Here is the trailer. I LOVED this movie so much! So many beautiful scenes and messages in there, like this one:

"Treasure the experience, dreams fade away after you wake up"

@BTS_twt
Another of those time travel movies JK mentioned is The Girl Who Leapt Through Time or "Toki wo Kakeru Shojo" (2006) by Mamoru Hosoda.
Makoto discovers a message on a high school blackboard "Time waits for no one" and starts leaping back in time...

@BTS_twt
Again, there are some scenes there that did make me think of BU and the same type of scenes we have seen for BU.
I'll be honest, I did not like the English dubbing of this movie. I preferred the one with subtitles.

@BTS_twt
Now how can I not mention Matrix (1999) by the Wachowskis, right? They all have talked about it at some point.
Dystopian future, cyberpunk sci-fi where humanity is trapped inside a simulated reality while intelligent machines have taken over the world...

@BTS_twt
Without even mentioning Bangtan, Matrix is a cultural reference that should not be overlooked.
Neo - What is the Matrix?
Morpheus - It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

@BTS_twt
I can't speak of Matrix and not speak about Ghost In The Shell (1995) by Mamoru Oshii.
Why? Because Matrix was heavily influenced by this anime and the producers talked about it. You can clearly see the similar scenes!
And no, I am NOT talking about the recent remake.

@BTS_twt
2029 technology allows the ghost(consciousness) of a human to be augmented and placed in any body(shell).
Motoko is tracking a ghost-hacker, the Puppet Master, who controls the minds of his targets.

This hits closer to BTS art than Matrix does!

@BTS_twt
Singing In The Rain (1952) by Kelly and Donen was the referenced movie for BWL mv.
But the movie itself is directly linked to the Persona.
Lina is an actress who uses sweet Kathy's voice to cover her squeaky one to sing.
She is not the one she seems to be...

@BTS_twt
And let's not talk about the number of personas Gene Kelly actually has in some scenes of the movie... switching from one character to the next within a second.

@BTS_twt
Inception (2010) by Christopher Nolan is a fave of Yoongi's.
Subconscious infiltration of the targets to extract information through a shared dream world designed specifically.

@BTS_twt
It is also the Edith Piaf "Non, je ne regrette rien" music used at the end of the On Stage : Prologue merged with House of Cards, the mix that was removed... the theme of HYYH Pt.2 blue version.

@BTS_twt
I can't talk about Inception and not mention Paprika (2004) by Satoshi Kon. While the stories are different, there are very similar scenes in the two movies. The common thing between them though is dreams and the subconscious infiltration...

@BTS_twt
A research psychologist uses a device that permits therapists to help patients by entering their dreams but the device gets stolen...
This is a visual masterpiece with a mindblowing story. The trailer itself will remind you of several MVs 😉

@BTS_twt
HYYH Pt2. Peach version was about Papillon, a book by Henri Charrière. But there is also a classical movie with Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman released in 1973 that I would recommend.

@BTS_twt
Papillon, a butterfly tattoo on his chest, is wrongly convicted of murder and is sentenced to life imprisonment in French Guiana. There he tries to escape.

Some scenes in the cells, dreams or hallucinations really reminded me of BTS scenes/MVs.

@BTS_twt
Black Swan (2010) by Aronofsky for obvious reasons...

"The film can be perceived as a poetic metaphor for the birth of an artist, that is, as a visual representation of Nina's psychic odyssey toward achieving artistic perfection and of the price to be paid for it."

@BTS_twt
I'm leaving the trailer here, but you probably have already seen it already, right?😉
