RANT ALERT ... People are sleeping on the wheel in terms of no of IT sector job losses we are going to witness in the coming 90 days. A lot of folks have skills in old technology with little to no growth in adoption, these will have tough time even getting interviews.
Election year in USA has historically been a slow year for IT services. Previously they would look for growth in diff geography or buy revenue growth by acquiring mid sized consultancy firms. Since covid is a global and not regional phenomena this trick is thrown away too.
Startups of all size n scale are already drawing or most likely will, a list of employees they have to let go. With exception of those who raised money in last 6-15 months OR the grocery, gaming, fitness apps seeing growth since ppl are at home using their products more.
Soon we will witness a lot of NRIs arriving in doves. Most will compete for roles like Technical
/ Engineering / Product Managers and above. Coders with client facing relationships are mostly prized and retained for current or future client projects.

I feel this is going to be bigger then 2000 crash, job losses after sub prime crash.
So what can you do?. I can speak for those who code. Skills pay the bills.

It& #39;s amazing how bad ppl are at writing resume/cv , cover letters. Also ppl send the same resume for every opening without re-arranging sections that are relevant to JD. Don& #39;t do that. Writing thoughtful custom cover letter in India is an exception then norm. Do it.
Interviews are over before you enter to be interviewed. How so?. It& #39;s all in the preparation. If you are one of those who says why are asking me Red black tree or binary search in an interview it& #39;s not like I am going to use it for my job. I ask do you want the job?, then prepare
At most companies going via referral makes a lot of difference. Go add all the ppl you know on linkedin including that old director you met once in a park jogging. Why?. Magic is getting referral from those who are 2nd degree away from you and secure a referral
If your company or job is on shaky grounds the smartest thing you can do is prepare and jump ship before the shit show truly comes to a townhall meeting near you.
