As I note in the article: the leagues don't actually exist as leagues anymore and haven't for some time, apart from the DH. They are merely an organizational concept, nothing more. Definitely not like they were back when each league actually, you know, did stuff.
Would I advocate for all this in normal times? No. But it's not normal times. If you're ever gonna do some radical things -- at least radical things that don't imperil people's health in a pandemic -- now's the time to do it.
I'm still all-in on the idea I had last month for making the 2020 season into a tournament. A thing I don't have much patience for are people -- and there will be many -- who simply cite tradition and custom as a reason not to do something weird this year. Sorry, but traditionalism is literally the last thing I give a flying fart about amidst *waves generally* all this
