with turf and horticulture and eventually went back to school for landscape design here in NY, where I became obsessed with drinking and drugs drugs and dropped out 5 weeks from graduation. 2/

Not 10 years ago I was a homeless drunk sleeping underneath a pine tree in Hudson River Park. I’ve been in more rehabs, jails, and ICUs than I can count. I was a complete drain on society, family, friends, and myself. 3/

As I type this, I have my beautiful 2 1/2 y/o daughter sitting on my lap helping me color in pine trees on a map of Augusta I’m working on in the new house my amazing wife and I bought located 1200 yards from the first tee of the humble little golf club where I’m a member 4/

I can tell all of you this because this morning I know who I am. The fact that any of you derive enjoyment from my random posts and the hope that it improves your experience of this exquisite sport, sustains me. 5/

Please, please know that when things are caving in around you, and hope is impossible to find, there is a light within you that can carry you through, that light will shine on those you love and act as a beacon for them to return to you. I’m proof. 6/
