MY MARIAH DISCOGRAPHY REVIEW/RANKING: A THREAD Inspired By @STARSATNlGHT
13. Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse (2014)

This is easily my least fave Mariah album. The production is kinda messy and there is too much autotune, and some of the songs are really weak in Mariah's standard. It almost feels like she tried too much. 1/2
But the album still isn't that "bad", it's on the weaker side of her albums. It has some of Mariah's best songs, like The Art of Letting Go.

6.5/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. The Art Of Letting Go
2. Faded
3. You Don't Know What To Do
4. Make It Look Good
5. Beautiful / You're Mine
12. E=MC²

"Einstein" is Mariah's most laid-back album. It has several bops and the album is perfect to play at parties. However it lacks depth in most lyrics and the production is weird in some songs. It also contains some of the worst Mariah songs, like O.O.C. 1/2
Ranking: 7.5/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. I Wish You Well
2. I Stay In Love
3. Migrate
4. Cruise Control
5. Touch My Body
11. Glitter

Even though the movie flopped, this soundtrack is much better. I Love how it pays homage to 80's music style still delivering them vocals. Despite the era being really messy, she still managed to make an album this decent. The production in some Songs is messy. 1/2
Also some of the songs sound rushed and it feels like they were just put together. However The album contains some of her best vocal songs, like Lead The Way.

Ranking: 8/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Lead The Way
2. Never Too Far
3. Twister
4. Didn't Mean to Turn You On
5. All My Life
10. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel

IMO this is her most cohesive body of work and every song feels meaningful in it's own way. The interludes etc. make the album flowing. However, some of the songs sound cheap and there is too much autotune in some of the songs.
Overall, the album aged well and it's perfect to listen if you want to relax on a rainy day and read a book.

Ranking: 8.5/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Languishing
2. It's A Wrap
3. H.A.T.E.U.
4. Candy Bling
5. Angels Cry
9. Rainbow

Despite being made in such a short time, Mariah still managed to put up a good album with amazing vocals. The album contains many R&B/Hip-Hop songs rather than pop, which I like. The worst thing about the album is that it has quite many skips for a Mariah album. 1/2
Rainbow has the biggest range between good songs and bad songs. It has Crybaby and CTTA and then, well, Did I Do That?

Ranking: 8.5/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Crybaby
2. Heartbreaker
3. After Tonight
4. Cant Take That Away
5. Rainbow interlude/Petals
8. Emotions

It hurts me to put this so low, the only reason is because it's kinda heavy to listen compared to the albums above. This is by far most vocally demanding album and we love to see it. I love the feeling of this album, it has bops and beautiful & strong ballads. 1/2
Emotions is also experimental and I love how it contains different music genres, like Jazz and Gospel/Soul. If you dislike this album, you're just not an intellectual.

Ranking: 9/10
Top 5 tracks:
1. Can't Let Go
2. Make It Happen
3. If It's Over
4. AYDR
5. The Wind/TBAU
7. Music Box

This album gets way too much hate from Lambs. It has beautiful ballads, upbeat bops, and the vocals are on point. The album is very dreamy and is like a love story. The only reason it's not higher is because the lyrics are lil cheesy and bland in some parts. 1/2
Ranking: 9/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Anytime You Need A Friend
2. Everything Fades Away
3. All I've Ever Wanted
4. Music Box
5. Dreamlover
6. Charmbracelet

This album is one of her more personal albums and it's so underrated it hurts. The feeling of being in a better place after some emotionally hard years really transmits through the vibe of the album. The whispery theme of the songs can get annoying sometimes.1/2
There really isn't a bad song CB, not many albums can relate to that. Yes, even Irresistible is a decent song.

Ranking: 9/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Subtle Invitation
2. I Only Wanted
3. My Saving Grace
4. Through The Rain
5. Clown
5. The Emancipation of Mimi

Ah, the comeback album. This album is just so gorgeous and confident and she really showed the World that she is a legend and she is going to stay. Despite a few weaker club bops, this album is full of gorgeous and strong songs. A true Diva. 1/2
Shoutout to We Belong Together because it catapulted Mariah's career to "resurgence" in the eyes of the general public

Ranking: 9.25/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Circles
2. Mine Again
3. Fly Like A Bird
4. I Wish You Knew
5. Stay The Night
4. Mariah Carey

I know I might get hate for putting this so high, but idc honestly it's a perfect debut album. It's full of beautiful ballads and bops. The lyrics in many songs are amazing. The only downside is that she didn't have much creative control over the album. 1/2
She wrote many of the lyrics at such a young age, so it really shows already how good she is at songwriting. Overall a really strong debut.

Ranking: 9.75/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Vanishing
2. Alone In Love
3. Vision of Love
4. I Don't Wanna Cry
5. Prisoner
3. Caution

After many difficult years, she really snapped with this one. It sounds fresh without trying too much and without forgetting Mariah's artistic style. It's critically acclaimed for a reason and there's not a bad song in the album either. 1/2
Ranking: 10/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Giving Me Life
2. Caution
3. With You
4. 8th Grade
5. The Distance
2. Butterfly

This is her magnum opus and for a good reason. After breaking free from an abusive relationship she got full creative control over her new album. Butterfly is full different of emotions, from love to feeling like an outsider. The lyrics are unparalled. 1/2
Ranking: 11/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. The Roof
2. Outside
3. Close My Eyes
4. Honey
5. Breakdown
1. Daydream

This album is so perfect it's literally a daydream. The album is so timeless it will sound good in 2080. I love the urban music vibe, and that it sounds more R&B than her previous albums. Listening to Daydream always puts me in a good mood and inspires me. 1/2
Butterfly is almost as good as this, but Daydream just has something that Butterfly doesn't. I can't describe it, maybe it's the cohesiveness. And justice for SA!

Ranking: 11/10

Top 5 tracks:
1. Melt Away
2. Underneath The Stars
3. I Am Free
4. Looking In
5. Always Be My Baby
