#QuarantineLife I know it’s not easy folks. These are the times that try our spirits and we wonder if we can do this. Let me tell you a little Friday story ok? Follow along for some #FridayMotivation
I spoke to my oldest son yesterday and he’s feeling very nervous about all this. He’s scared, confused and wondering what the future holds like all of us.
So I reminded him about my father and why his generation was called “The greatest generation.” On June 6, 1944 thousands of boys packed themselves into boats to cross the English Channel into a nazi buzz saw.
I call them boys because they were. Most were no more than 19 years old and had never seen combat. They had no idea what they were walking into that day.
Their hearts were filled with fear and doubt. There was no bravery in those boats, only boys who were doing what they thought was right. It’s not the lack of fear that makes one a hero. What makes a hero is acting in spite of your fear.
I guarantee you that more than a few of those boys pissed themselves wading into that beach. There was no cover from the rain of machine gun fire but they pressed on.
It wasn’t until they looked back on that beach they understood what they just survived. That one trip up a cliff provided a perspective not available anywhere else. Hardship tempers the spirit.
Remember when you feel down or have doubts about the future that we WILL come through this. We will be stronger for it. We will all look back and say “Yeah we did that.” And there will be much rejoicing when our tears dry.
God bless America and may God bless all of you, my friends. The goat will stand with you also.
