Sad to hear about this road death in #Moortown this week at Ring Road/ Shadwell Lane junction. Don't know what happened, but have some thoughts which @ConnectingLeeds may wish to bear in mind when redesigning that junction as part of the ongoing scheme 1/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/crime/motorcyclist-56-killed-crash-car-leeds-ring-road-2532111%3famp
The current crossing facilities at the ring road prioritise cars over people, including many families travelling to Highfield Primary and @moortownprimary with non-direct multi-stage crossings and waiting in the central reservation common. 2/
The speed limit on Shadwell Lane north of the ring road is SHAMEFUL at 40mph. It's barely the width of a bus, has narrow footways in places and is extremely dangerous for anyone on a bike due to non-stop close passes by speeding motorists. 20mph would be much more appropriate.
There needs to be restrictions to general traffic heading south down Shadwell Lane. It's a rat-run creating lots of traffic past @moortownprimary + gridlock at Moortown lights. Should be 20mph the full length and a southbound
lane past @moortownprimary to Moortown shops
