The next stage of this pandemic is already emerging: victim-blaming. In another two weeks, as the curve flattens in major metropolitan areas, people will start venturing out again and businesses will start asking workers to come back, DESPITE guidelines.
And some people will have to go back. They can't afford not to. Others are working on things too valuable (or allegedly too valuable) to wait. And we're all wearing masks now, right? We know about hand-washing, we know to stay six feet apart.
So at that point, if people get sick, it must be because they weren't following the guidelines, right? It must be their fault. THIS WILL NOT BE TRUE. THIS WILL NEVER BE TRUE.
I have a family member working on an "essential" project who's *already* gotten an email implying that his two sick coworkers were at fault for 1) contracting the virus and 2) being contagious.
Remember, you can't get tested if you're not symptomatic! Anyone talking about "reopening the economy" until we can 1) test the asymptomatic and 2) contact-trace is a death merchant. /end
