GA’s Sec. of State is planning to work w/ law enforcement to intimidate voters. Mailing absentee ballots request forms was a 1st step, but instead of providing prepaid postage they’re using tax $ to scare voters—especially Black and brown ppl
Examples of what could come?
Examples of what could come?

Former SOS Kemp had 10 Black SW GA voters arrested when they ran a vote by mail campaign so they could have representation on a school board. Some lost their jobs, considered suicide, and one was arrested days before Christmas. No charges were ever found: https://news.yahoo.com/how-a-criminal-investigation-in-georgia-set-a-dark-tone-for-african-american-voters-090000532.html
In Sparta, GA, police officers were sent out to find Black people and challenge their right to vote. This scared many Black voters because at the time in Sparta (and could be the same now), Black people were arrested at DOUBLE the rate than white people. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/01/us/critics-see-efforts-to-purge-minorities-from-voter-rolls-in-new-elections-rules.html
These two stories were one of many. Canvassers getting stopped the police, police officers outside of polling locations in 2018. We are looking at a possible Quitman 10+2 GBI & local law enforcement operation but statewide.
So yes, GA’s SOS sent absentee ballot request forms to active voters w/o prepaid postage (and didn’t send Spanish language request forms to Gwinnett voters). But what he is doing is dangerous and puts Black and brown voters in jeopardy. That should highlighted over and over again
