My thoughts on gatekeeping and educating sex workers, a thread.

I've heard a lot of talk about all the newcomers to the industry, not just in the recent month but in the last several years. There's a great deal of vitrol about oversaturating the market and how cut throat it's
become. There's a great deal of hate aimed at these new faces, unfairly so. Like it or not, online sex work has become trendy and fashionable, and a large number of the people who get into it will not succeed.

It's a hard, uphill battle and all that media coverage of findoms
pulling in six figures from the comfort of their homes is a heady lure. Those who want easy money will find it's not so easy, and they'll likely find something else.

But what about those who truly want to be successful, to make careers out of sex work? Should we greet their
enthusiasm with malice? Absolutely not.

Mentoring, educating, supporting, & encouraging others in this industry is the hallmark of success. Providing leadership and community to those who will build the next era of sex work is forward thinking, because it makes us all stronger.
As women, we're taught to be catty and competitive by a culture that insists our sexualities are our most valuable commodity. This isn't true. One of our greatest strengths is our ability to compassionately, deeply connect with others, & newcomers need that compassion even more.
When you show up for the next generation of hoes, you're not creating more competition for yourself. You're helping to create an army of warrior sluts who will do battle with the stigmas and stereotypes that you face on a daily basis. You inspire others to innovate and create.
You're actually making the pool larger, because it's not a competition for money. It's a fight to be recognized as the valuable, fierce, brilliant part of society that we are, giving people a way to explore their sexualities in a way they never thought possible. Ethically.
Am I saying that everyone should be an educator? Of course not. But you can be a positive role model, a safe place, a voice for solidarity, and part of the change you want to see in the world. We need that, now more than ever.

Your legacy isn't in dollars, it's in community.
