Women were never included in pursuit of equality. Every institution was built on our belonging to a man.

Now stop saying dumb shit about how we should be grateful that “women have rights in America.”

One time I was explaining that marriage is built on the notion of ownership, hence it’s expected that women change their names/titles in relation to men, and my aunt said “Sara you think too much” and I said “being encouraged not to think is exactly what got us here.”

We’ve been fed this idea that being cerebral & analytical is not feminine, & that our only purpose is to fulfill feminine ideals created by men in order to keep us powerless. If we‘re busy trying to straddle all these demands, we can’t realize the extent of our subjugation.

If we can’t realize the extent of our subjugation, we can’t fight to change it.
