Ever wondered why shaolin monks have super powers & strength? It's not some internal natural energy that they train for known as 'chi', it is shirk & sihr/magic. The part they don't tell people is the rituals they need to perform, the visions they see & their true experiences.
They hide many aspects of their training & paranormal experiences which is why many outsiders romanticise their art & training. It is physically impossible to achieve what these monks achieve without non-human assistance - Jinns.
Yes meditating & breathing exercises can help with energy distribution throughout your body as well as mental focus but so does sleep & rest, they don't give you super powers.

The 'five animals of martial arts' (snake, crane, tiger/leopard, monkey, mantis) are not mere symbols
representing different fighting styles, they're entities from another world that have a much deeper & more direct connection with those who pursue these types of arts to that level of spirituality & devotion.

In an interview a shaolin monk was saying how during meditation
He actually sees the monkey in front of him and he interacts with it and also receives instructions from it on how to acquire certain abilities.

The commonly known chi is in fact the jinn infusing with the body of the monk/artist and giving him powers beyond human strength.
Anyone who's been in or done ruqya will know the strength of Jinns as they possess humans which is why in many occasions multiple people have to pin down the patient for the Raqi to complete his ruqya.
A friend I know also related to me from someone else who went into chi training and after being exposed to it's dark side, he left it as he said he 'felt unnatural presences in his body much like being possessed'.
I know it looks very enticing & appealing but there's always a dark side to things that defy human ability & laws of physics unless they're supernatural occurrences decreed by Allah (swt) in which case would be miracles upon his anbiyaa' & awliyaa'.
With that said, humans can reach whatever their potential is by training & disciplining themselves which is why pursuing any form of martial arts is fine as long as the person doesn't spiritually connect themselves to it but only uses it for mental & physical prowess.
