This... is interesting. Because when I was younger (12-24 or so), you couldn't get me to be critical of what I created or consumed.

At almost thirty, I view critical thinking about what we create and consume as fans as something that adds to my fannish experience. https://twitter.com/Spookie_Pie/status/1248262002197385222
The OP of the thread, in the third tweet goes "This is my indulgence and I don’t HAVE to be woke about it. There are more important things to use my time and energy on" about (safe sex in) fan fiction but like that attitude is literally how we get a ton of horrifyingly racist fic
(Because it's never just that? It's that "fic as a whole is my safe space as a fan so criticism of it hurts me and so I won't be critical on any level. Periodt."

And that often extends towards... racist stories in fandom that we're not allowed to call such or criticize... 🤷🏾‍♀️)
Also, how willing are we to bet money that OP isn't Black based on the way they condescendingly (and frankly mis)use "woke" as a thing they don't need or to be in fandom/when reading fic.

Literally, it's the little things like this that make fandom not worth it.
Me, trying to stitch threads together hours later because I didn't realize I'd messed up my thread lol https://twitter.com/stichomancery/status/1248611905331023874?s=20
