10th April 2020 - as it was 22 years ago, today is also Good Friday.

To mark this significant day for #NorthernIreland, we will be sharing some reflections here on the @BelfastAgmt over the course of the afternoon, looking across literature, media coverage and other material
First up is the GFA itself. With some senior UK politicians admitting that they have not read it, this is perhaps a good point to start from! https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/136652/agreement.pdf
For anyone looking for something to procrastinate / to pass time with, this 42 minute BBC report from 1998 is an interesting watch
Senator George Mitchell - 'It is concluded. Good luck, have a happy Easter, and God bless all the people of Northern Ireland.'
In this episode of @bbctheview marking the twentieth anniversary of the GFA, @MarkCarruthers7 speaks to a number of the leaders involved in it. Main takeaway here is that a lot has been achieved, but there is still much to be done
Legacy issues remain to be solved. The Stormont House Agreement 2014 contained proposals for how to do this. However, as this report (published yesterday) highlights, huge challenges remain with this https://twitter.com/CAJNi/status/1248215657088507904
Work on creating a Bill of Rights for NI also continues 👇 https://twitter.com/PatrickCorrigan/status/1248580366069358594
This report by Dr. Anne Smith ( @TJI_) and @cjhumanrights explains why a Bill of Rights, in line with GFA commitments, is needed in Northern Ireland from a human rights perspective and now also in light of Brexit

British? Irish? Both?

The GFA contained this commitment from the two Governments:
However, the recognition of the birthright citizenship provision for people born in #NorthernIreland remains to be fully reflected in UK law. @EmmandJDeSouza have highlighted this in their on-going case: https://medium.com/@ecklewchuk/the-desouza-case-an-explainer-7c1f74f5cac7
In more recent times #Brexit has placed the GFA front and centre once again not only in #NorthernIreland, but on an international stage. This compilation of articles by @DCU_Brexit_Inst gives some insight to why the GFA has been so important in this regard http://dcubrexitinstitute.eu/2018/04/brexit-and-the-good-friday-agreement-i/
If you're looking for some additional reading material on the GFA, there is plenty! Here is one example: https://twitter.com/SiobhanFenton/status/999602464700751874
There is also (e.g.):

- 'Great Hatred, Little Room' by Jonathan Powell
- 'Brokering the Good Friday Agreement: The untold story' by Mary E. Murphy
- 'A Farewell to Arms?: Beyond the Good Friday Agreement' by Cox, Guelke, Stephen

(feel free to add to this!)
The PI team has also published a range of work examining matters stemming from provisions within the GFA on citizenship, rights and identity in #NorthernIreland (in the context of Brexit). This can all be found on our website: https://performingidentities.org/
