I'd rather hear any organic accent that has body, character and tells a story about where the person has come from, than an engineered "received" pronunciation that is forced upon people as a way of elevating some perverted sense of propriety and supposedly superior education.
Some of the tweets on social media about Loki's weegie accent and how that put people off from last night's Question Time (apparently) are straight from a cesspool.
I'll never hide my Portuguese accent, nor consciously change it. It's who I am - I learned English a second language, my accent tells the story of someone who came from elsewhere. And now, if the occasional Scottish inflection appears, well, that too is part of my story.
