I expressed to my friend and sister @zeezeecruise how bitter and angry I was this morning and it happens to be GOOD FRIDAY. She sent me hugs and told me it was time for us to pray in the spirit and that God was doing something. I believe her and I thanked her.
Guess what, I have my bible in front of me, I started to pray, but I was soooo deeply hurt in my heart and I started to cry. It’s funny how a few sentences can truly hurt someone even when you don’t know the person who made the statements personally.
I woke up this morning to hear the MOH @DrEOEhanire speak boldly to a host of people which included @femigbaja about his unawareness of the hazard allowance of healthcare workers.
Bear in mind that the @Fmohnigeria under the MOH is the numero uno for healthcare workers.
Our health minister said, he is not aware of the hazard allowances. He reiterated that the doctors are used to doing the same thing- screening for temperature, and have been doing it for a while. So in other words, it’s not new to them.
@femigbaja told him it was novel and not standard, but he insisted it was something we are used to. Imagine going to medical school, spending 6yrs or more only to come out and be checking temperatures.
We were not only insulted, but we were meant to realize that we are a sheep..
..with no shepherd.
For how long will we continue like this? For how long will our elders give us stones in place of bread and force us to crush the stones without drinking water? For how long will the average Nigerian doctor be trampled upon? When will the light shine over us?
When will our elders realize we are the future of the healthcare system, and do their best to give us the training and empowerment we need? Because of statements like this, the average Nigerian would rather drink agbo than come to the hospital. The wealthy Nigerian will go..
..abroad for headache and fever. Do I blame them? No. When a father talks down on a mother in front of her children, the children will not take their mother serious. When a father talks down on his son in the presence of his friends and his sons friends, he gives them liberty..
..to do so.
The average African country has a hazard allowance for its doctors as $800, excluding basic salary(Liberia). Nigeria’s hazard allowance for her doctor’s is <$20. I’m sure you know the newspaper allowance for her senators.
Doctors are risking their lives, but their father doesn’t know if they should be appreciated for doing so or not.
Doctors in Abuja and in other parts of the country had not been paid salary for a period of 3 months and where castigated for going on strike.
Some doctors who work with private hospitals that had to close up temporarily with regard to the Novel COVID-19, where not paid. So they had to borrow to stock up their homes so they don’t die. Their father, @DrEOEhanire doesn’t know this at all.
Many other doctors are jobless. They want to help, they want to contribute their quota, they want to learn more and be better, NO JOBS. Everything has been politicized. And our @nmanigeria says little or nothing about it. Oh yes they know these things.
Lassa fever has killed a couple of doctors, from Kano, benue, Edo. No one heard about it. Guess what, their hazard allowance was 5k.
Doctors are leaving Nigeria everyday and it’s not a bother to the country. CHECK WHY!
With what was said today, would Nigerians take their doctors seriously? Because our society has a way of making conclusions from the behavior of the head of a group regardless of if there are better people in the group.
It’s so much to say, but let’s stop here.
@DrEOEhanire you really dropped the ball. It may look like nothing now, but the impact is coming later, I actually hope it doesn’t. Our healthcare system needs to do better. Your words today didn’t convince me that you should be the “better”we want.
COVID-19 is exposing the ills and loopholes in the healthcare system. This is what you have Nigerians.
WHAT A SHAME!

@nmanigeria @Fmohnigeria @nard_nigeria LETS DO BETTER!
Please let’s not be silent about this. I know we are tired and weak, but say something. Add what I didn’t add, tag who I can’t tag. Say something. It’s too much.
