Over 200 dead. Cases almost at 7000.

PM will give his FIFTH address to the nation today. MP govt has a cluster outbreak, the origin on which hasnt been traced as aggressively as health ministry went after T.Jamat

Here's what happened in today's briefing:
Oddly, MEA (Jaishanker) leading the briefing today.

20,400+ foreigners evacuated. Talking super slowly so... fully expect no time for Q&A from journalists. Nothing startling so far "situation is under control"
Jaishankar: HCQ stock has ben reviews by group of ministers, keeping in view domestic priorities. HCQ is in high demand globally, many countries have requested this drug. We have sufficient buffer.
PSS, home affairs: Lockdown is being enforced across the country. Hotspots are being contained.

14lac stranded workers are being helps is some 27,000 relief camps. (Never forget that this crisis was CREATED by this govt)
LA, health Ministry: 15000 cr package for COVID emergency response has been announced.

Custom duty on vents/masks/PPE & testing kits has been waived.
*just vague monologue about how everything is being done*
LA: 33 ppl died yest, taking the total to 199.

All states have assured they are prepared (Umm..this is not correct, esp if you see that M.P. doesnt even have a health min rn)

Now repeating HCQ stuff Jaishankar already mentioned
omg.. this is a Jaishankar look alike & not him. I apologise for the error. MEA person is doppelganger & I'm not familiar with MEA staff.

But he dos look A LOT like JS, no?
PPE, vents, N95 masks- we have some infra issues after import stopped.

"HIGHEST level" is monitoring this & we have 39 manufacturers in the country rn- govt is doing everything about it
LA; vents- we have ordered 49,000 & the supplies will start soon. Our country is dealing the challenge well.

Our frontline healthworkers are our biggest assets. PLEASE DONT TREAT THEM BADLY. You lit candles for them, please act like that as well.
Pls don't stigmatise patients, this is a disease. We want the world to see that India came together to fight coronavirus

(," he said after going after muslim minority FOR WEEKS)
ICMR: we have expanded our testing strategy to include all symptomatic cases in hotspots

(this is coming too late, after weeks of denying the extent of transmission)
J: Non-COVID patients (esp cancer/TB) are suffering. what's your plan for these patients?

LA: we are trying, we dont want patients to step out & get infected, so we are trying they use tele-medicine. Use technology to access treatment

(Most of India doesn't have internet)
J: 20% SARI cases dont have travel history. Can you explain

LA: Study doesnt say these cases were from places without other positive cases. It needs further contract tracing (yeah! like you went after TJ,perhaps)
There is no comm transmission in the country
