Has anything been quite as corrosive for trust in public institutions as police Twitter accounts?
There is such a fine line between thrash ‘em and lash ‘em clickbait in ordinary times and “this is the taser I will deploy if I see you with a Cornetto”. Why do they *need* their own Twitter accounts?
If you want justice to be seen to be done, fine, get a social media manager to do it. But is there an actual argument for frontline PCs to be doing their own tweets from their rounds, beyond using public shaming as a coercive tool of state power?
