So I watched the defining movie of our generation, High School Musical, again last night at 2 in the morning (couldn’t sleep) and it was a bad idea. Idk why but 2AM me realized and questioned too many things. Join me in my revelations:
1. This movie takes place New Years and right after in Albuquerque, NM. So tell me why NO ONE dresses like it’s winter. Average temp. In January is high 49, low 25. (Yes I googled) they shouldn’t be wearing spring dresses and tanks!
2. I think this has been brought up before, but Ryan and Sharpay are going for a couple role and are brother and sister. Did no one writing the plot for the movie question that?
3. I have never heard of a “Winter Musicale” being held in the second semester. Are they putting this show on within the next month? Because once it’s March it’s no longer a “winter” musicale. Just sayin.
4. I didn’t notice anything in the middle! I just had to keep reminding myself this is high school not college. We only had 5 minutes between classes. How do they have time for roof top gardens and running through auto workshops?
5. We’ve had our Troy and Gabriella aren’t friends anymore situation. Troy comes to talk to her. HOW DOES HE KNOW WHERE SHE LIVES? She wasn’t expecting him and her mom doesn’t know him since he had to introduce himself. Find my friends and Snapmaps don’t exist yet. Just sayin.
6. ITS THE BIG DAY. Everyone has to evacuate because chaos occurs. Why does everyone go to the auditorium? I get the basketball team because you know, Troy but why does the crowd go? That can’t be safety protocol right?!
7. I just realized Breaking Free is literally just for a call back audition. Idk why but up to this point it just registered as a performance. They get a backdrop and everything. Ryan and Sharpay didn’t. Not fair, just sayin.
8. Lastly it’s such a subtle and stupid thing but at the very end on Breaking Free Gabriella is holding the mic with her left hand and then all the sudden as she’s singing it’s in her right hand. Like I said stupid as hell but 2AM me noticed.
And there you have it my tired delirious thoughts while watching HSM. It’s still absolutely one of my favorite things to watch (and sing)! I just found it funny the things I realized at 2AM. Okay. That’s all. I’m going to bed.
