Something eerily dangerous/grossly underreported is happening in Oyo and Eng. Seyi Makinde's @oyostategovt must pay attention: insecurity is crawling back into the lives of our people, gradually. Days ago, @AbiaWarriors goalkeeper, Charles Tambe, was shot in Ibadan.
In recent weeks, our folks in Ibadan, at least, can no longer sleep with their eyes closed. I have been receiving SOS alerts from folks in Foko, Eyin Grammar, Adeyemo Layout, Iyana Liberty, Molete, etc, since February. It's gotten to its crescendo in recent weeks.
When I spoke with Santi of @awatiibadan last year, I remember making tangential reference to this. There is no alternative to peace. Our people in Ibadan, and by extension other parts of Oyo, witnessed relative peace in recent years so much so that they took it for granted.
His Excellency, Engineer @seyiamakinde must realise that development is a mirage under an atmosphere of guns and bullets. We must not return to the locust years. Ipinle Oyo o nii baje o.
It is equally important that Oloye @akinalabi, @ShinaPeller, @deboogund, and other vocal members of the parliament/ruling class speak out and work with the govt to fashion out ways to tackle this growing wave of communal insecurity/incessant robberies. Selah.
