This is part of why the NHS MD called on people - especially parents on behalf of sick children - to attend A&E as normal... even among those attending proportion of 5-14 year olds has halved, 15-64 yo has gone up
This is my colleague @deb_cohen important but upsetting report from last night’s @bbcNewsnight on non-Covid sick kids not getting medical attention - https://twitter.com/hannahsbee/status/1248508163487342592?s=21
Chart showing near doubling of calls to ambulance service relating to “breathing problems” in England last week - peaking at nearly 4000 in a day, 23,000 last week
This is very interesting on NHS 111 calls - significant spikes in proportion of people reporting cold/flu, coughs, and breathing difficulty in early Mid-March, then completely falls away BELOW trend??? Seems like more a change in 111 functioning, but could be some lockdown effect
Actually this correlates exactly with the PM telling the country NOT to phone 111 with mild symptoms on March 12th...

And so the spikes before that has mild as well as serious symptoms in it.

... shows the power of the Prime Ministerial podium... people listen.
BUT ... piece of PHE data not yet released, due yesterday, is the weekly national flu report - which showed worrying 512 “acute respiratory outbreaks” in care homes last week, 230 confirmed to be Covid, normal figure 10-30.
