Nancy Titman is the proud owner of a 199yo hot cross bun. It was baked by her great great great grandfather William Skinner, a baker in London in 1821 & passed down to her thru 5 generations. Apparently it still smells of bun, has no mould & they get it out every Good Friday
But it’s pipped you the post as world’s oldest hot cross bun by this beauty baked in 1807. It belongs to a retired couple in Essex. The 213yo bun is stored with an original note stating that was baked in Colchester on good Friday, it was was given to them by an elderly neighbour.
Kathleen Huntley’s hot cross bun is 51. Baked by her mum who’d read that if baked on Good Friday they never go mouldy & saved this in her china cabinet. So far, no mould! If only she’d saved one baked another day as a scientific control bun.

K thinks it might be oldest in the NE
