Why do I want to talk about Umpah Umpah? Because almost half of the fandom thinks that& #39;s the worst Red Velvet song/era and I will NOT let that pass

1. The video teaser: it was sooooo cute and refreshing, really well made and it introduced us to the song and the beat! It also continued the Day 1 storyline with Reve as well

3. The song
When Zimzalabim came out I remember half of the fandom loving it and the other half not really vibing with it. They thought the chorus was too strange and it didn& #39;t fit well with the verses. It was too quirky even for Red Velvet.

Umpah Umpah was probably the opposite. The chorus goes perfectly with the verses, and maaaaany people thought it wasn& #39;t good for Red Velvet because of it. I saw a youtuber ranking gg title tracks and Umpah Umpah was really low, while many other simple songs+

From other groups were way higher. I think people would have loved Umpah Umpah if it wasn& #39;t a Red Velvet song.
Also, it was perfect for the ReveFestival trilogy, as it is a Red song, while Psycho is a Velvet song and Zimzalabim is a mix of both.

The song is really good and I think it was innovative for Red Velvet BECAUSE it& #39;s simple. It gave us high notes from all the vocal line (with different stiles: Wendy& #39;s was clear, Joy& #39;s refreshing and Seulgi& #39;s emotional!) and references to older Red Velvet tracks in the rap part!

The theories for the lyrics were so creepy, everyone was like "OH SO RED VELVET IS TEACHING US THE WRONG BEAT TO MAKE US DROWN!"

But the best thing about the song is WHEN they released it. Many people thought "If they had released it at the beginning of summer it would have been much better"
But the song has the perfect spirit for the end of summer, it& #39;s upbeat but not like Power Up or Red Flavor

And the MV concept is so good because it keeps the end of summer vibe perfectly. All in all I know that they could have invested in it MORE, they literally shot a summer MV in a studio, wtf
So I won& #39;t talk about it

The other songs in the album? PERFECT. All the B-sides are phenomenal, Carpool makes me soooo happy and Jumpin& #39; as well. Love Is The Way is one of my favorite songs, and Ladies Night... Literally the best vibe ever. The album ends with Eyes Locked, Hands Locked+

Which is a ballad, perfect way to end the EP. The order of the tracks is perfect, Umpah Umpah is morning and ELHL is midnight of the perfect late August summer day.

The outfit were good, they didn& #39;t really look expensive, I know, but at least they were coordinated which is rare for Red Velvet

Umpah Umpah did well on music shows, too.

All in all, Umpah Umpah was a really good song. It was everyone& #39;s era, every member had the chance to shine. It won SOTY at Soribada Music Awards, and that day they gifted us with the pink cowboy outfits!
