COVIDー19: Free Masks Project to support precautionary measures in Ekiti

In collaboration with Koorawoman, an award-winning Nigerian fashion label, @OneEkiti is launching a community project to make 10,000 homemade masks free for the vulnerable & elderly in Ekiti State. #COVID19
This important initiative aims at complementing Ekiti State Government’s efforts to curtail the spread of coronavirus #COVID19 and protect the life of the citizenry.
Funded by donors, Koorawoman will design and produce free fabric masks for distribution in rural communities, slums and secondary cities where the most vulnerable people may not be able to afford expensive medical masks — N95 respirator masks. #COVID19
These masks will be donated to Gender Mobile @GenderMobileNG, a non-governmental organisation, that has been assisting the less-privileged with relief material since Ekiti State Government imposed a curfew of movement in the State. #EkitiFoodHub
Gender Mobile @GenderMobileNG will be responsible for the distribution of the homemade masks to the aged, less fortunate and the physically challenged in Ekiti State. #COVID19
Titilayo Obileye @sheila_browngeh, Lead Designer and Founder of Koorawoman announced that her fashion label will make 500 fabric masks available for free as part of her commitment to @OneEkiti’s community project to prevent #COVID19 infection in Ekiti State.
This includes 500 homemade masks for One Ekiti’s @OneEkiti community project, 50 homemade masks for volunteers at Gender Mobile @GenderMobileNG, and 50 free masks for Ayoba FM @ayoba951Fm.
Koorawoman’s commitment marks the first donation towards the joint community project with @OneEkiti, to manufacture 10,000 free homemade masks within 3-6 months, for those without the financial resources to purchase masks daily, especially the vulnerable & elderly in Ekiti State.
It is expected that @CDCgov will soon recommend that people wear face masks in public settings. Although this recommendation may be constrained by the expensive price of commercially made masks, @OneEkiti and Koorawoman are working together to make free fabric masks [...]
