Thread on Spelling.
I’m in a group where I was quite surprised to hear some pretty intolerant comments about poor spelling. Some went as far to say that they would just ignore someone who can’t spell!

I’m not having a pop but I find this odd coming from this group. Isn’t poor spelling a written communication deficit? We’ve all got some kind of communication deficit/difference going on surely?
Personally I think phonics has a lot to answer for which is why I named my son “Tadhg” to really mess with those teachers

What I think is worse than poor spelling is a perfectly spelt paragraph which is talking absolute sh*t! Why? Because the person clearly has no excuse

If I’m going to Lord myself up I tend to do it with people punching at my own weight not those who are clearly NOT! There is no sport in that. I’d just feel like an asshole if I did that.
I’ve got a dyslexic daughter and reading that some of you wouldn’t give her the time of day is quite deep tbh! Some people are dyslexic, some have had poor sporadic educations, some are ADHD and maybe just couldn’t maintain attention and others are likely lower IQ maybe even LD?
People confuse spelling with intelligence. It’s an erroneous assumption. All that pride about good spelling indicates is a) regular school attendance b) strong visual learning capabilities c) preoccupation with the mediocre
