As someone who is lucky to live near/in an AONB/National park im pondering this morning that for all the big words on the national stage over many years about protecting the environment from labour, the lib dems and the greens, that on the ground everyone seems to be a tory. Why?
Our change in MP in 2017 has merely served to highlight this. The labour MP has done nothing and seems to care not one jot. The previous tory was involved very publicly in every aspect of trying to defend our glorious green spaces
And while at national level labour talk of a climate crisis, the labour council have for years looked at ways to expand the local airport which would involve destruction of protected habitat
At the last assembly election labour had to drop a report they'd commissioned on the AONB suggesting significantly easing restrictions because it was such a hot button doorstep issue
And it's not just them. The local greens or lib dems are nowhere on out local environment.

Sure they'll take a train to London to march against climate change, but they don't seem at all involved in local conservation and environmental issues
And to the best of my knowledge this is not a one off. This is apparently replicated around the country. Why?
As a moderately left wing person why are there no like minded people inovled in local environmentalism and conservation?

Seems odd
