One revolution in the fight against #COVID19 has been the use of robotics. Some cool pictures here: https://www.businessinsider.com/robots-fighting-coronavirus-in-china-us-and-europe-2020-3 and technical details here: https://www.wired.com/story/covid-19-pandemic-robots/. This thread discusses possibilities of consumer robotics (such as Anki #Vector ) in therapeutics.
In the Pillbot project ( https://imtoospexy.com/blog/pillbot-using-a-social-robot-to-help-manage-crohns-disease/), the author designed Vector to be a constant companion to an ill patient and give reminders on times to take pills. The author who is suffering from Crohn's disease notes that Vector was much more effective than a phone.
In this program ( https://github.com/jahaniam/lightweight-human-pose-estimation.pytorch), the author has programmed Vector to give reminders whenever you are touching your face, a very useful utility for those of us who have desktop jobs.
This article describes how robots can be programmed to be cashier. A similar concept can be used in situations where human lives are at stake and robots can replace essential human functionality. https://medium.com/programming-robots/programming-a-robotic-cashier-be9eeb2605dc
Hope that was fun. If you know of any other interesting projects demonstrating possibilities in this field, ping me and I will add to this thread. Thank you for reading!
