I’m intrigued by verses in the Bible that talk about fasting in terms of undoing heavy burdens, letting the oppressed go free, feeding the hungry, caring for the poor, not turning away from the needs of our neighbor. I’d be interested in seeing that aspect of a fasting practice.
(It’s in Isaiah 58, if you’re interested.) I’m wondering what a Good Friday fast that focused on these elements would look like/do.
