Some questions related to the credibility of #Vietnam data on #Covid19. It's understandable for people to challenge the data. Here's why i believe in the credibility of data been reported. (Pls read full thread)
(1/6) A country often manipulates its nCov data because of: tourism, trade and investment, politics or public discontent. None of this falls into the govt's objectives for now.
(2/6) Vietnam is one of the first countries in the world to close its border to China and Korea, two of its largest trading and investment partners. Then to most of G20 and to the whole world, even when total cases were less than 100
(3/6) Along the line of Communist's ideology, the govt has a strong ground/ mandate to prioritise social care and public health to individual and business benefits. This receives unanimous support from the public. The Govt has introduced a massive fiscal stimulation package
(4/6) Public statement by the Govt tends to amplify the seriousness of the situation rather than to put the public at ease. They want ppl to be scared and overly cautious rather than to be reckless
(5/6) With GDP per capita less than $3000 per capita, Vietnam doesn't follow the mass testing approach. They instead "trace, test and treat" to cluster high risk groups. Data might not be sufficient, but I believe, have been adequately reported with full transparency
(6/6) Photo is the beautiful bird sanctuary in #NinhBinh, a hidden gem of Vietnam. I hope this is all over soon so that ppl can come and visit this beautiful place
