I've showered, it's almost 1:00Am at the time of typing this and I can't sleep so I've decided to do a hopefully short thread about why I love Travis Moore's Jason Todd
When I first say this particular piece of art I was entranced. It was visually stunning and looked so realistic. It literally took my breath away
There was a familiarity to this version of Jason I have spent far too long trying to place and that is what the bulk of this thread is going to be about
At first I thought the familiarity was in looks. I couldn't place who so I continued mulling it over until I realized that @TravisGMoore was the first person to capture how I interpret Jason's personality in my head
There is a guarded, almost resigned look on Jason's face. It's as if he wants to be vulnerable but doesn't know how to convey what he is thinking or if he truly trusts the world around him
Then there are the eyes. Holy moly are they intense. There is experience, tragedy, practicality and even a glimmer of something (mayhaps hope or mischief) all being conveyed in that look
The facial hair is a genius touch I've never seen before. I found it refreshing. The more I think about it, the more I'm upset more artists haven't dabbled with it
It makes Jason look mature and differentiates him from the rest of the bat boys even more. Also, I can totally see it being a plot device.
Jason is on the run or needs to go undercover? Grows some facial hair. We've seen him with a buzz cut when he was on the run and with a fake mustache while undercover so he isn't opposed to altering his appearance a bit
Jason spends two weeks obsessively planning a mission/ gathering intel & forgets to shave or just doesn't want to dedicate the time to it? We've seen him obsess over revenge in Lost Days & UtRH and tbh I feel like he would potentially cut out small actions such as shaving to plan
Oh and not to mention up until recently he was legally dead so if he sported some facial hair to keep from drawing too much attention to his looks that could totally work.
Also, the white streak is just a detail I love seeing people include when they draw Jason. It's a nice for the sake of making him look unique but also, my mind likes to run wild with headcanons about it which is fun
The domino mask on Jason is something that always makes me chuckle because of the fact he wears it under the helmet which is just dramatica and extra af. So when I see him in just the mask I know he is about to dial it up to an 11 on a scale of 1-10
I'm sure I'll think of more things I love about this Jason but for right now I'm going to end it here by saying, in short, I love how Travis Moore captured the complexity of Jason and the beauty of the piece itself. Once again, thank you @TravisGMoore for sharing your art!!!
