I fundamentally believe there are two types of people on the far left: those who genuinely act in good faith, want to help people and make the world better...and those who are acting bad faith and just want power and control by any means necessary. The former outnumber the latter
As I lay in bed trying to meditate, it occurred to me that the ones acting in bad faith have similar personality traits as what made Donald trump want to be president. That’s not to say they are the same as him....but kind of are. And I find that hilariously ironic.
Their motivations are different. Trump (because he’s a narcissist) thought he convinced could do a better job than anyone else and so this was part of reinforcing his world view. Now whether or not he has done that is not the question. It’s the motivation.
What he shares with the far left is a fear of losing control and not being in charge. But the far left wants control to impose their will on others to validate who they are as human beings. Trump wants to validate that he’s better than other human beings, not that he’s the same.
What I wish they would all understand is that you don’t need the approval of others to validate how you see yourself. You don’t need to prove anything to anyone. Give yourself the love and appreciation and validation you’re seeking from other people instead.
