Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 (2014) Glenn Close. You could almost do the entire cast, as they’re all crazy and perfect, but Close as Nova Prime is absolutely outrageously fun. Honorable mention: John C. Reilly, Benicio del Toro, Nathan Fillion, Djimon Hounsou, so many others

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015): James Spader. As a creepy robot, Spader makes an otherwise forgettable role absolutely memorable. Honorable mention: Andy Serkis as Klaw, Josh Brolin intro’d as Thanos.

Ant-Man (2015): Michael Douglas. Oscar and Golden Globe winner and Gordon Gekko himself, Douglas enters the MCU as Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man. Honorable mention: Michael Peña, John Slattery and rapper T.I.

Captain America: Civil War (2016): Martin Freeman. Seeing Spider-Man in the MCU as a character was long-overdue, but, as far as actors, Freeman, formerly Bilbo Baggins of the Shire, was a welcomed surprise. Honorable mention: Marisa Tomei, William Hurt.

Doctor Strange (2016): Tilda Swinton. Take your pick from any of the stars, but the controversial casting of Narnia’s White Witch as the Ancient One is the wildest. Honorable mention: Cumberbatch (a perfect Strange), Rachel McAdams, and a random Benjamin Bratt cameo

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017): Sylvester Stallone. So many options here, but Rocky in space tops the list. Honorable mention: Kurt Russell, Ving Rhames, Miley Cyrus, Seth Green, Nathan Fillon, This Is Us’ Chris Sullivan, Guillermo Rodriguez from Jimmy Kimmel, and more!

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017): Donald Glover. The modern-day renaissance man has an inauspicious entry into the MCU, though his character could be Prowler, the uncle of the Miles Morales Spider-Man. Honorable mention: Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Jennifer Connelly (“Suit Lady”)

Thor: Ragnarok (2017): Jeff Goldblum. In a Goldbum-y movie, he’s the Goldblum-iest. Lots of honorable mention: evil Cate Blanchett, director Taika Waititi, Karl Urban, Matt Damon as fake Loki, fellow Jurassic Park alum Sam Neill as fake Odin, Luke Hemsworth as fake his brother

Black Panther (2018): Angela Bassett. I was not ready for Bassett to show up as the queen of Wakanda. Honorable mention: The whole cast? Oscar winners Lupita Nyong'o and Forest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown, Trevor Noah, Michael B. Jordan

Avengers: Infinity War (2018): Peter Dinklage. You may know him as Games of Thrones’ Tyrion Lannister, but to me he will always be Trumpkin in Prince Caspian (or Elf’s Miles Finch). Honorable mention: Thor director Kenneth Branagh, Arrested Development character Tobias Fünke

Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018): Laurence Fishburne. That time Morpheus showed up in the MCU. Honorable mention: Michelle Pfeiffer, Catwoman becomes the Wasp.
