In a very brief trip down memory lane, I was the car’s PR rep in 2013... for two races... after everything from 2012 left. We had new tires, engine, drivers, crew, livery, then the coupe in dev. But Dr. P’s spirit and desire to push on drove us forward.
It was at earliest stages of new development. It didn’t have a prayer against Audi/Rebellion extras nor the Muscle Milk/Dyson LMP1 content. But it fit so well in sports cars as a one off, and that’s where it lived.
But it seized its opportunities later in the year. The spider could well have won its sign off race at Road America in mixed conditions because it led that race on merit. Then the coupe premiered... and so it went. Some fun memories though!
My two faves: when we retired early at Sebring after almost no run time/testing prior, our man @DavidPriceRace and @Pitlaneandy had a classic sardonic pair or legendary British racing vets exchange on SPEED about how we went out.
And second, in my sign off race at Laguna (we skipped Long Beach, which only intensified the joke about the car not being able to make the hairpin), we got on the podium. Except none of us expected it because Dyson retired early and we thought we hadn’t hit 70% distance!
This concludes me “Bozi-ing” this thread and instead bringing back fun DeltaWing memories from my “three month masters in turd polishing” that was my Feb through May 2013. Cc @hoonable
