My dad's work is in the NYT!!
The Amish are organizing to sew face masks and surgical gowns by the tens of thousands.
I'm in tears reading this story, because so much of what I love about our community shines through 1/n

The same cooperation that lets the Amish raise a barn in a day has created a huge collaboration across six businesses in a week: a local lumber mill, fabric store, printing press, equestrian supplier, lawn furniture maker, and my dad's sewing and manufacturing companies 2/n
The group's slogan is "The Cleveland Clinic has been there for us, now they need your help."

. @NYTLiz's piece does nice job describing how antithetical social distancing is to the Amish way of life. When my grandma died a few years ago, I shook more than 1,000 hands at the calling hours and funeral. That is not an unusual turnout. Caring means showing up in person. 6/n
I hold my breath every day as I check Ohio's COVID maps.
My other grandma turns 90 this summer. All her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids families (over 140 of us) had planned to come together.
I hope and pray the virus doesn't gain a foothold in this close-knit community.
