shadowbringer's exaggeration of the hypothetical reactions people would have in the face of an post-apocalyptic scenario is something i love dearly and find fascinating especially the contrasts between them all (hedonism & living in the present & hard work & religion)
i fuck with the eulmore storyline so hard as someone who takes great interest in themes surrounding hedonism, it's benefits, it's detriments and it's function as an "ideal". it's absolutely disgusting how the citizens and vauthry see everything as hopeless and instead make
relations with the sin-eaters and indulge themselves in their city, while leaving others to suffer or use them for entertainment. it's clear that how it works is this: if you forego all your concerns of the world, that also means you let go of your concern for others
also: elevation of power, status and state of life over all with little contact with anyone but people who are similar wears down on your empathy for the rest of the world and makes you see people as not "people" but "those below you", this is something that has wormed into
eulmoran people's brains. it sucks and the writing for it and how its portrayed is absolutely fucking astounding with how it's introduced through how the ppl are treated at the bottom of eulmore and how they've changed, and then compared with how the people in eulmore act
they're drunk on power and they make you play irritatingly long card games (i failed a lot) & are clearly intent on spending the rest of their days in this place without a care for anyone else and they're really just putting a flimsy band aid over a huge wound caused by the flood
what's most astounding is how they BEFRIENDED the very sin-eaters that ruin people's lives. i went by it like alphinauds questline -> alisaie's, but if you do it the other way around, i'll bet it's absolutely appalling seeing eulmore's relations with the sin-eaters
