on Jan 27, Fauci interviewed on coronavirus https://www.npr.org/2020/01/27/799925300/coronavirus-spreads-5-confirmed-cases-in-the-u-s . Remember US claims that China concealed contagiousness of virus. Fauci says that China had reported asymptomatic transmission, but Fauci was skeptical, wanting to see "real data" before addressing implications
/ Fauci said that he was "satisfied" with U.S. measures to prevent spread by identification of confirmed case, isolation and contact tracing, measures that proved totally inadequate. This was prior to Trump's China travel ban, of which Fauci doen't seem to be advocate.
/ Fauci's main interest seemed to have been vaccine, where he was hoping to get vaccine for Phase 1 study within 5/ 3 months, aiming for availability in a year or so. Not exactly urgent, let alone hair on fire.
/ on Jan 22, Fauci had given interview to Bloomberg Law in which he optimistically discussed US efforts to develop vaccine, which he described as the "most concrete" efforts being undertaken by US agencies. He had very dilatory schedule.

/ Fauci also gave interview to Scientific American on Jan 22 https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/infectious-disease-expert-discusses-what-we-know-about-the-new-virus-in-china1/ Again, his interest was almost exclusively in development of vaccine
/ on Jan 26, Fauci told Hill "American public shouldnt worry about coronavirus outbreak in China..It’s a very, very low risk to the United States...Because we have ways of preparing, screening of people coming in [from China]. We have ways of responding"
